So I've been thinking the Univeristity of Ambrosia would call their team the Wolves (after the Okwaho people who used to live in the region, and the actual indigenous wolves) and Chronos University would be the Watchmen. (If Zack has no objections.)

It's not in any particular real world state, but Ambrosia is definitely rooted in the original thirteen colonies. 'New England; is about as specific as I'll get. It's inspired by fictional cities like Gotham or Metropolis, where it's sort of kind of like that one major city you're thinking of.
